SUMMARY:Scan To Reverse Engineer with Functional 3D
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhen a part goes out of production or drawings need updating\, 3D scanning can help you speed up your design workflow and meet customer obligations. \nIt’s a challenge that becomes more common by the day: A smaller manufacturer can no longer get critical parts from their supplier\, but drawings don’t exist. How will they continue to meet customer contracts? OR\, drawings have changed over the decades but weren’t documented along the way. How long would it take to reverse engineer that key part and get work flowing again? \n3D scanning technology offers very real benefits to small and medium-sized manufacturers in a variety of areas\, including reverse engineering to solve supply chain challenges or to embrace additive manufacturing. Polaris MEP has teamed up with 3D scanning specialist Christopher Wilczewski for a series of fast-paced webinars about the applications of 3D scanning in manufacturing. \nThis third and final “episode” in our Spring 2022 series focuses on the potential benefits of 3D scanning for reverse engineering/CAD. \nWHAT TO EXPECT\n1) Overview of the role 3D scans play in the “new” reverse engineering\n2) Understand how you can create Surface CAD bodies to be used in traditional CAD applications – even with organically shaped or hand made objects\n3) Hear how 3D scans can allow for modern manufacturing such as Additive / 3D printing or forging\n4) Manufacturer Mini-Success Story \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\n\nOwners\, Founders\, senior executives of RI manufacturing companies\nEngineering\, Maintenance\, Procurement leads\nOperations\, Production leads\n\nABOUT THE TRAINER\n \nChristopher Wilczewski is the Founder and CEO of Functional 3D\, a 3D scanning service and consulting company based in Providence\, RI. The focus of Functional 3D is to bring the value of 3D capture technology without the large upfront costs and time associated with integrating this kind of technology. Industries supported include commercial construction\, manufacturing\, design and historical preservation with projects as small as a Revolutionary War era flint to as large as a 17-story building in New York City. \nPrior to starting his own firm\, Christopher was an engineer and account manager at FARO Technologies\, one of the leading manufacturers of 3D capture technologies. There he had the opportunity to learn and develop workflows in various fields and organizations across the US igniting his passion for the technology. \nChristopher is a member of DesignXRI and the Rhode Island Manufacturing Association. \n  \n  \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Scan To Quality Reporting with Functional 3D
DESCRIPTION:  \nMeasurement is the first step in quality control\, the foundation of improvement and critical to Customer satisfaction. How can 3D scanning technology improve your quality reporting? \n3D offers very real benefits to small and medium-sized manufacturers in a variety of areas. Polaris MEP has teamed up with 3D scanning specialist Christopher Wilczewski for a series of fast-paced webinars about the applications of 3D scanning in manufacturing. \nThis second “episode” in our Spring 2022 series focuses on the potential benefits of 3D scanning as it relates to quality. Attendees will learn how 3D scans could improve the quality reports provided to customers\, increasing satisfaction. \nThe technology also can be used to confirm that the parts you receive from your suppliers meet your expectations – or even modify them to fit your needs. For example\, are you struggling with a plastic part and can’t figure out why? A 3D scan could help you spot deformations AND the data can be used to modify molds to produce the correct shape. \nWHAT TO EXPECT\n1) Overview of the advantages of 3D scanning for measurement vs. manual quality \n2) Best practices / lessons learned for leveraging 3D scans to improve quality reporting and/or automating GD&T reports \n3) Insights on how the technology can be used to improve quality of parts received from suppliers \n4) Manufacturer Mini-Success Story \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\n\nOwners\, Founders\, senior executives of RI manufacturing companies\nEngineering\, Quality leads\n\nABOUT THE TRAINER\n \nChristopher Wilczewski is the Founder and CEO of Functional 3D\, a 3D scanning service and consulting company based in Providence\, RI. SUMMARY:The Secret to Improving Your Leadership... Really
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nWhy do so few leadership improvement efforts produce the results that leaders and business sponsors want? What is in the way? Through decades of working with manufacturers to help them improve their companies and leadership\, we’ve discovered that there are five common obstacles to leadership improvement that must be overcome in order to achieve the desired results. \nWe’ve also developed a process that will help any organization improve their leaders – and not just a little improvement\, but the “who are you and what have you done with my old leader” type of improvement that we’re all after in our development efforts. \nJoin Keith Gammill from the Arkansas Manufacturing Extension Partnership as he discusses: \n1. The five common obstacles to leadership improvement and a methodology to overcome them\n2. The importance of vision and what it does for your leadership\n3. How to apply the Toyota Kata improvement methodology to leadership improvement\n4. Why so many confuse management for leadership and why this matters\n5. The Transformational Leadership Improvement process through the lens of a frontline leader\n6. How to improve your workplace resilience \nThe MEP National Network will host this workforce webinar with Quality Digest. \nFor more information\, email jennifer.rosa@nist.gov. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:NERDIC Industry 4.0 Readiness Ecosystem: Technology Demonstration Using Collaborative Robots (Cobots) to Streamline Processes & Drive Efficiencies
DESCRIPTION:This technology demonstration is part of the NERDIC Industry 4.0 Readiness Ecosystem program for the New England defense supply chain. For more information\, please visit ccat.us/NERDIC. \nJoin us for an introductory webinar and technology demonstration where we will showcase the use of Collaborative Robots (Cobots) in Manufacturing to overcome process gaps\, and deliver operational and cost benefits. \nThe technology demonstration will take a deeper dive into using Cobots to streamline component repair\, through the use of a collaborative robot (cobot)\, 3D scanning technology and a grinding system. \nHigh value metal components with long lead times are best candidates for repair and reuse. Worn surfaces that fall outside the acceptable tolerances for continued component use are among one such repair application. The determination of the extent of the wear\, the use of additive manufacturing technologies\, such as wire arc or directed energy deposition to build up material on the worn surfaces\, the process of machining or grinding back down to nominal and post inspection are typically a manual process. \n  \nIn this technology demonstration you will see how the use of a collaborative robot\, 3D scanning technology and a grinding system can help streamline the process of turbine tip repair. \nPresenters: \nNasir Mannan\, Principal Engineer\, CCAT\nSamuel Greenbank\, Manufacturing Applications Engineer\, CCAT\nAndrew Guagliardo\, Lead Mixed Reality Developer\, SphereGen Technologies \nGuest Speaker: \nPeter Mirabello\, President & CEO\, Metal Finishing Technologies \n \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:NERDIC Industry 4.0 Readiness Ecosystem: Technology Demonstration on Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Bound Metal Deposition (BMD) Additive Manufacturing Processes
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a virtual presentation on the use and results of generative design and resulting demonstration parts printed by the University of Maine Advanced Manufacturing Center/Center for Additive Manufacturing of Metals. \nValued at a $7.3-billion worldwide market value in 2017\, additive manufacturing (AM) is disrupting multiple markets by enabling engineers to rapidly manufacture parts having substantial geometric freedom. Unfortunately\, this geometric freedom is often realized with materials having insufficient properties (e.g.\, stiffness\, strength\, melting temperature) for production requirements. Addressing this problem\, the rapidly-growing additive manufacturing of metals (AMM) sector now includes multiple processes\, including Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Bound Metal Deposition (BMD). \nThis session will be recorded and made available on-demand. \nLearning Objectives \nBy the conclusion of the presentation\, attendees will:\n¥ Understand the advantages and disadvantages of PBF and BMD AMM processes\n¥ Recognize how AMM process and design advantages can add value within supply chains while increasing part functionality\n¥ Reflect upon their current portfolios to determine candidate AMM applications \nPresenters \nDr. Brett Ellis\, Associate Professor\, Co-Director- Center for Additive Manufacturing of Metals\, University of Maine\nJohn Belding PE\, Director- Advanced Manufacturing Center\, Co-Director- Center for Additive Manufacturing of Metals\, University of Maine \nRegister Here
