NERDIC Industry 4.0 Readiness Ecosystem: Technology Demonstration on Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Bound Metal Deposition (BMD) Additive Manufacturing Processes
ZoomJoin us for a virtual presentation on the use and results of generative design and resulting demonstration parts printed by the University of Maine Advanced Manufacturing Center/Center for Additive Manufacturing of Metals.
Valued at a $7.3-billion worldwide market value in 2017, additive manufacturing (AM) is disrupting multiple markets by enabling engineers to rapidly manufacture parts having substantial geometric freedom. Unfortunately, this geometric freedom is often realized with materials having insufficient properties (e.g., stiffness, strength, melting temperature) for production requirements. Addressing this problem, the rapidly-growing additive manufacturing of metals (AMM) sector now includes multiple processes, including Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) and Bound Metal Deposition (BMD).
This session will be recorded and made available on-demand.
Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will:
¥ Understand the advantages and disadvantages of PBF and BMD AMM processes
¥ Recognize how AMM process and design advantages can add value within supply chains while increasing part functionality
¥ Reflect upon their current portfolios to determine candidate AMM applications
Presenters
Dr. Brett Ellis, Associate Professor, Co-Director- Center for Additive Manufacturing of Metals, University of Maine
John Belding PE, Director- Advanced Manufacturing Center, Co-Director- Center for Additive Manufacturing of Metals, University of Maine
Do you need a solution for your “people problems”?
ZoomTWI-JR Workshop January 24-28; 8-10:30 AM
If you answered yes and clicked in to read more, then you must be in need of some TWI-JR for your team. Training within Industry, TWI is a set of standardization programs that teaches the essential skill needed by all supervisors and team leaders to help lead an organization though a Lean transformation and for it to sustain. The first module, Job Relations (JR) will teach how to evaluate and take proper action to handle "people problems".
MassMEP and our subject matter experts (SME's) will be holding an over session on TWI-JR, January 24 - 28, 2022. The event will be virtual each morning from 8:00 - 10:30 AM. This training is no cost to Massachusetts Manufacturers. The return on this investment of your time will be exponential!
MMAP 2021 recap & 2022 funding opportunities
Zoom2.24.22
The MMAP program aids to help Massachusetts- based small to medium-sized manufacturers prepare their businesses to meet the demands of Industry 4.0 and the manufacturing of new technologies and innovations that align with key industries in the Commonwealth.
Register for this one-hour webinar with Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Director Christine Nolan and MassMEP Sales & Marketing Director, Kristy Grignon as they provide a recap on the 2021 MMAP and the new funding opportunities available in 2022 for Massachusetts Manufacturers with MMAP. Key takeaways from this webinar program overview, key points, takeaways, and be available to answer your questions. She will also be discussing the grant 13 companies were awarded with and what’s to come in the next 5 years with that.
