Amramp Uses a Slow Down to Ramp Up

The Challenge

Since 2021, Amramp has undergone major operational and technological changes, including relocating to Randolph MA, purchasing a CNC Machine and robotic welding arm, transitioning from paint to powder coating, and launching a new ERP system. While these were significant advancements for a small manufacturer, they presented challenges in workforce Safety, and process efficiency. The company committed to work on those challenges while focusing on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and maintain profitability without sacrificing quality.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Amramp partnered with MassMEP to assist them to obtain grant funding for a robotic arm. They also implemented a series of targeted training and improvement programs. The collaboration began with a two phased employee safety program. MassMEP delivered continuous improvement initiatives including Team Involvement Problem Solving, Lean Office and Rapid Improvement Kaizen training. This training empowered employees to identify and solve problems on the shop floor, leading to seven follow-up improvement projects initiated by their internal teams. A culture of engagement and ownership across departments developed.
