MassMEP, VetsRise, and UMass Lowell Team Up to Prepare Veterans for Immediate Manufacturing Careers in Massachusetts

A unique collaboration between MassMEPVetsRise, and UMass Lowell is opening doors for Massachusetts veterans seeking to transition into high-demand manufacturing careers. The VetsRise training program, delivered with MassMEP’s industry expertise and UMass Lowell’s academic partnership, provides veterans with the technical skills and nationally recognized credentials needed to step directly into advanced manufacturing roles across the state.

Participants receive targeted instruction, including Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, hands-on manufacturing fundamentals, and job readiness support tailored to their military experience. With the state’s manufacturers continuing to face talent shortages, this program is creating a reliable pipeline of disciplined and highly capable candidates.

Training concludes the first week of December, and manufacturers interested in interviewing or hiring graduates are encouraged to connect directly with Matt Berard, Associate Director for Workforce Development at MassMEPat matthewb@massmep.org.

This partnership represents a win for veterans, employers, and the Commonwealth’s manufacturing ecosystem. Allowing us to strengthen the workforce while supporting those who have served.
