MassMEP has been awarded a Workplace Safety and Education Grant from the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development’s Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA)

All training is being provided by Safety Trainers and their staff and is first come first serve.

Workplace Safety Training Details

Hazard Identification and Abatement Introductory Workshop
Hazard Identification and Abatement Introductory Workshop. This course will include learning how to complete a hazard assessment, implement controls and abatement. The participants will practice and perform a hazard assessment on a department/jobsite using an inspection checklist to identify hazards. Participants get a better awareness of the most common areas where an employee has hazards that require abatement. Findings will be presented and discussed by all participants- 3 hours. PLEASE NOTE YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE ONE OPTION. If more dates are needed, a registration form for EACH date is required.
Hot Work Training (*Limit of 5 participants per company*)
Provided by Safety Trainers Partner Tiger Training- Hot work is any work process that involves heat, spark, or flame that is capable of starting fires or explosions. Examples include, but are not limited to, welding, cutting, grinding, soldering, heat treating, hot riveting, torch applied roofing, abrasive blasting, and powder driven fasteners. TIGER Training is a certified Massachusetts Hot Work Training provider and the program covers all aspects of the new state Hot Work Requirements. The Hot Work program is performed over the required 3 hrs, covering the OSHA standards as well as the Hot Work permitting process.
Job Hazard Assessment Workshop
Job Hazard Assessment Workshop - The participants will learn the value of a JHA, how to fill out a JHA and how to use a JHA in their safety program to decrease the risk of injuries. Participants will complete at least 2 JHAs to include classroom discussion and then observation of tasks in JHA to validate the result. They will choose to perform JHA on a task, a process, a piece of equipment or for an entire department—3 hours. PLEASE NOTE YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE ONE OPTION. If more dates are needed, a registration form for EACH date is required.
OSHA 10 - 2 Day Training
OSHA 10 Certification General Industry or Construction – 10 contact hours – this includes an OSHA 10 certification card. PLEASE NOTE YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE ONE OPTION. If more dates are needed, a registration form for EACH date is required.
First Aid, CPR/AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Fire Prevention Training
This includes your certification card. Plus Fire Prevention Training to include general awareness of how to decrease the risk of fire in workplace, regulations, potential ignition sources and evacuation procedures. Participants will learn the P.A.S.S technique while discharging a water fire extinguisher. General housekeeping is also discussed.
Workplace Violence
Workplace Violence for Employees [Active Shooter] Training-This program is based on A.L.I.C.E principles. You are introduced to the basic principles of a survivor’s mindset. Discuss includes evacuation, barricade and response options. Demonstration support concepts and reinforces the actions to be taken with a survivor’s mindset –1.5 hours. PLEASE NOTE YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE ONE OPTION. If more dates are needed, a registration form for EACH date is required.
