FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gefran Hosts First Manufacturing Day Event for Students, in addition to the Fall Show Schedule for Professionals

October and November events support education and professional outreach

North Andover, Mass.–Aug. 23, 2023–Gefran, Inc., a manufacturer of sensors, power and process controls, and other industrial components, will host its first Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) event for students in October at its Massachusetts plant. In addition, the company is attending three professional expositions in October and November – Heat Treat 2023 in Michigan, Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX) in Georgia, and the AMI Plastics Compounding World Expo in Ohio.

  • Championed annually by The Manufacturing Institute in Washington, D.C., MFG Day is a chance to introduce American students and educators to career opportunities in manufacturing. Working in partnership with the Eastern New England Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (ENESPE) and the Society of Plastics Engineers student club associated with the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Plastics Engineering Department, Gefran will welcome students to its North Andover plant on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 9 a.m.-noon. Undergraduate and graduate students will tour the facility, learn about operations, lean manufacturing, technical sales, get career-related questions answered, and see technology demonstrations.

“We are thrilled to collaborate on Gefran’s Manufacturing Day to advance manufacturing technology and innovation for plastics engineers,” said Dr. Davide Masato, ENESPE Technical Programming Chair. “Our commitment lies in continuously inspiring the next generation of young engineers and problem solvers.”

Expo attendees can demo Gefran’s new QE2008-W wireless strain measurement system, the first strain gauge to also measure tie-bar bending and cavity pressure profile in addition to calculating clamping force for injection molding and die-casting machines. The QE2008-W launched in North America on July 18, 2023, and is paired with Gefran’s Sensormate app, which easily connects to smartphones, tablets, and computers via Bluetooth technology. This wireless connection allows multiple users to quickly capture, analyze, and share measurement data and generate PDF reports that include contextual details or troubleshooting notes.

  • 2023 Heat Treat Expo – Gefran will be at the Huntington Place convention center in downtown Detroit, MI, on October 17, 18, and 19, in booth 2023. Attendees can learn how Gefran power and process controllers are used to measure, maintain, and control heat treatment processes and predict maintenance needs.
  • CAMX 2023 – Gefran will be at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, from October 31 to November 2. Attendees will find Gefran in Booth G31, in Building C on Level 1. This comprehensive composites and advanced materials event includes thermoplastics, heat treating, and innovative ways to optimize material production.
  • AMI Plastics Compounding World Expo – Find Gefran in booth A1226 in the Convention Center of Cleveland on November 15 and 16. Attendees can discover how Gefran products help with plastic compounding and extrusion.

“We are excited for all four events as well as the opportunity to support students and reconnect with professionals in the field,” said Ann Thompson, managing these events for Gefran, Inc. “Nothing compares to in-person conversations and seeing products firsthand.”
