Soledad Johndro – MassMEP Employee Highlights
Take a peek behind the scene at MassMEP and you will meet Soledad Johndro. Soledad is the Controller and says with a twinkle in her eye, “In my job I try to control everybody…..ha ha, no JUST KIDDING!” In fact, her role as Controller means that she is in charge of the accounting department which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, insurance, 401K, and more. She has been doing this for MassMEP since 2017.
Over the course of her career, Soledad has spent time in both the for-profit realm and the non-profit realm. She has worked for big corporations as well as in the software and communications sectors. She has been employed for the most recent 15 years been in non-profit organizations. Three years ago she discovered MassMEP through a recruiter and it thought that the position was a very interesting one. She applied, interviewed, and has been pleased to be part of the MassMEP team since then. “This is a very exciting time to be with MassMEP. It is an excellent group of co-workers and friends. I’m glad to be working here and helping with the Massachusetts industry,” she says.
Soledad is passionate about organizational culture. She shares her thoughts, “I believe that it’s important to be respectful with everybody. Everybody needs to be in their job and we need to care about everyone. That includes customers too. It’s important to be professional with everybody and to be grateful for all that you have. By being professional, grateful, and thankful – well, this is a good way to achieve your goals. You can open a lot of doors by saying thank you.”
Outside of the office, you might find Soledad dancing up a storm doing Zumba. “I love to dance. Zumba is very exciting. I feel like I’m in a disco or a club without the drinking and dressing up. I’ve been doing Zumba for about 7 years.”
How well do you know Soledad? Two of these statements are true and one is not. Can you guess which one?
1) I love to read books.
2) I love to use bright colors.
3) I always like to have a smile because we always need to try to be positive.
